The Daily Egg Year-End Roundup: Best Posts of 2016

by Sean Work

This year we had TONS of great posts that came from our regular contributors as well as industry experts. It’s just hard to remember all the hits!

We could dig through Google Analytics and pick out the ones that got the most traffic, but that’s a bit too robotic. And just because a post received a lot of traffic doesn’t mean it’s great – it could’ve just been some SEO luck.

So let’s just go with what stood out to us…

1. A Guide To Creating Buyer Personas That Will Improve Your Content Conversion Rates

This is really a guide to get your marketing mindset within the right framework. Use this post as a roadmap for all your marketing activities and you’ll be in good shape.

We want to thank Jessica Mehring for this amazing post! We constantly refer to it!

2. When It Comes To High-Performing Landing Pages, It’s Not Long Or Short. It’s This…

high performance

The short answer is that there isn’t a specific solution.

And you probably knew that.

The reason why you should read this post is because it gets at the core of testing and conversion optimization. And it all has to do with being a smart marketer first!

Never work off of best practices or rules of thumb. You need to test, be objective and be willing to do a lot of digging. The Devil is always in the details ;).

3. The Best Colors For Your Landing Pages And Checkout Process

This was a crowd hit.

We think it might have a little to do with the social media image we created for this post :).

But colors do play a major role in the experience you present to your visitors. Choosing colors and nailing down a great design is one of the greatest levers in conversion optimization. And for the data-driven optimizer, it’s the hardest thing in the world to quantify. That’s why colors drive us crazy!

4. The Crazy Egg Guide to Conversion Copywriting

Peter Boyle really knocked it out of the park with this guide.

It’s a must read. Bookmark it.

Any person doing Internet marketing or conversion optimization should read this guide. Again, it goes back to the fact that conversion optimization is not just a nerdy, number-crunching activity that can be done robotically.

It goes back to core marketing principles, it requires deep analysis of customers, talking to them, surveying them and understanding stages of awareness.

5. The No B.S Guide to Growing Your Facebook Reach Organically in 2016

Facebook can be a wild ride for online businesses.

If you can tame this beast, the traffic and reach potential could be like nothing else the Internet has to offer. But it’s certainly tricky.

Neil Patel breaks it down for you in this post. So prepare to open up a box of “Likes!”

6. SaaS Marketing Done Right: How Buffer Turned Me Into a Paying Customer

If you’re running or working at a SaaS startup – you have to read this post.

Startups can be a crazy ride, where everyone is so busy that it becomes detrimental to the organization. It’s easy to lose your bearings. This post follows Sharon Hall’s experience of using Buffer as a free customer and how she metamorphosized into a paying customer.

Sharon happens to be the perfect target customer for Buffer. She documents years of emails and experiences she had received as a Buffer user and explains how they did everything right.
