11 Places To Turn When You Need Web Design Inspiration
Sometimes we get stuck.
When that happens, I have some go-to sites that get my creative juices flowing again. I bet you do too. I hope you will share yours in the comments.
I spend at least the first hour of my day reading blogs and researching trends and I want to share with you some of my favorite resources.
Smashing Magazine and The Smashing Network, need no introduction. They are riddled with content that can get your noodle going again but here are 11 sites I turn to when I need web design inspiration.
MediaQueri.es
Outstanding resource for inspiration in Responsive Web Design.
Favorite Web Awards (FWA)
The FWA has been around since 2000 and there is a ton of inspiration to be found there. I have found them to be particularly useful for inspiration in mobile web design.
Design Shack
From logos to user interface and web design, the gallery at Design Shack will get you back on track.
Dribbble
Dribbble is the self-professed “show and tell” site for designers. It’s kind of like Twitter, except the tweets are screenshots of what the designer is working on.
Abduzeedo
The authors at Abduzeedo offer inspiration in all mediums of design from architecture, web, and offer a weekly review of some of the biggest news stories to break in the industry. I often find myself on Abduzeedo a couple of times a day.
Build Internet
Build Internet is curated by the guys behind One Mighty Roar. While the site hasn’t been updated in a while (probably because of their workloads) it still offers up nuggets of design insight and practical development techniques. Not to mention they’ve produced some pretty awesome jQuery plugins that are free for public use.
Awwwards
Ok, we all know the Awwwards, but how many of us regularly peek at the website? Awwwards is one of the best places to get inspiration from all different categories of business and design online.
Think Vitamin from Carsonified
I’m sure that many of you have heard of Carsonfied, some of you may have heard about their blog too. Either way, it’s a great site for design, development and industry buzz. And, if you haven’t seen what they are doing with Team Treehouse, check it out.
Web Designer Notebook
Web Designer Notebook is a small web design and development blog that happens to be a member of the Smashing Network.
Best Web Gallery
The Best Web Gallery is curated by Nick La, the guy behind Web Designer Wall and Themify. This is a great inspiration site with showcased sites from all different styles of design. I check this one out daily.
Theme Forest
Ok what, a theme site? Yep, a theme site. Why? Because theme sites offer great inspiration, consider them much like gallery sites. Theme Forest happens to be one of the biggest I’ve stumbled across ranging in all different types of design styles.
